Chinua Achebe, needs no introduction and a lot has already been said about him on many fora. His passing leaves a void where African writing/ literature is concerned. However, unlike many African leaders in whatever field, he seems to have passed on his genius to a good number of writers; Chimamanda Adichie, Binyavanga Wainaina, Aminatta Forna - fairly young people who weave stories so perfectly together just like he did. He will be missed, but he had made his mark and that is a thing of legacy which we desperately need in Africa.
Arthur Ndimbirwe, was my uncle. He was a lawyer. He was soft spoken, yet firm. He was one of my mom's oldest friends. He was ill for a long time and in pain for most of that time, so with that in mind, he really did go to rest at that 2:00 a.m. hour on the night of 22nd.
Rest in Peace, guys, till we meet again.
On 18th March 2013, it attempted to 'snow' in Kampala. For three hours, I watched as the rain poured. You should have seen those hailstones coming down at once...the pictures below, should elucidate.
I was in the comfort of my house, albeit feeling unwell, thankfully, and I had to get documentary evidence.
It may be that the possibility of me seeing some strange things like winter in Uganda, in my lifetime, is not a far fetched one.
Meanwhile, my forever friend Bou had a dream about me fraternizing with a Turk :) It may well be that soon y'all will hear that my postal code has changed to 01000 :) We wait and see!
