MeN's rULeS :)

I wrote  here almost a year ago about what women want from their male partner. That post generated some really interesting debates online and offline. Today, I was sent the following rules by the Bosom Buddy. I find that I agree with all of them. Some of them are harsh and literally bitter pills to swallow; but I agree with them and my posting them here is so, perhaps, the women folk who read them can gain knowledge, for knowledge is power and the heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out , Proverbs 18:15 says :)... We always hear ‘the rules’ from the female side Now here are the rules from the male side.  Please note. These are all numbered #1 on purpose! 1.        Men are not mind readers. 1.        Learn to work the toilet seat. You’re a big girl. If it’s up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don’t hear us complaining about you leaving it...

The Third Day April

Once again this is a holding down of the day...will write more later. I hit the 'play' button 13 days later...today is April 16th... I have been stressed out at work these past few weeks. A case of unmet expectations, if you ask me. Bosom Buddy brought it to my attention that a little office politics is a small price to pay for the certainty that a pay check at the end of the month gives.I agree with him but my agreeing does not negate how annoying all the posturing and what not is :( Nonetheless, the month of March was great. Joined a new fellowship of believers and I cannot get over how lovely it is to truly meet with like minded people. My steps are springier because my faith is being strengthened if not renewed. I re- evaluated my reading diet and I am back to taking care what I consume; the doctrine that the book espouses. Exercise...that good for nothing word! :(...I am reminded so often that I need to make a habit of exercising now so that I can ensure I live l...

One Visit, Two Farewells and Three Hours

Regina, Hope, Lynn (carrying Hope's nephew) The pictures are fairly self explanatory. That's the visit. Edgar Bampata had his first opportunity to visit the parents of Hope Lorna Nakhayenze Kusolo, to ask for her hand in marriage and report of his intention to walk her down the aisle come July 2013. It rained cats and dogs for a bit but when it finally subsided, things went grandly. Mukama Asiimwe. Regina, Me, Sandra and Paula On the 22nd of March, 2013, two important men, in their own right, went to eternal rest. The two farewells. Chinua Achebe , needs no introduction and a lot has already been said about him on many fora. His passing leaves a void where African writing/ literature is concerned. However, unlike many African leaders in whatever field, he seems to have passed on his genius to a good number of writers; Chimamanda Adichie, Binyavanga Wainaina, Aminatta Forna - fairly young people who weave stories so perfectly together just like he did. He will be ...

The Third Day March 3/3/13

I realize I will not be writing anything before midnight and I feel bad about it... So, I am going to post just these few words so I can come back to it and pound out what I really want to share as my 3rd day post. So, dear blog-stalker, do bear with me... Watch this space... I have been having conversations with myself. Not, the 'she definitely needs to be committed to an asylum' kind but the introspective, self examination ones. And this is what I discover, that, I was made for more- put on earth to contribute to the achievement of a grand plan. I have been considering Paul's letters to the Christians in the different places he preached and I cannot get over just how sure he was of his purpose and calling. Oh! for that persuasion, for that certainty! I want to experience the absolute peace and security his writing exudes. "For my determined purpose is that I may know Him, that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perce...

I met a gal :)

And no,  I am not gay :) On Valentine's Day, I met a gal. Her name is Esther Arinaitwe. Andrew, Lynn, Esther...the photo could have been infinitely better but the photographer may have had one too many :) Since then, I have gushed about her to anyone who cares to listen. It's odd, I know, but you have to meet this gal to know what I am talking about. She is beautiful, smart, funny, composed, spiritual, exuberant, accomplished...all in one package! It turned out that she is a daughter of one of mom's oldest friends and mom says everything I can gush about Esther being, her mom is five times more. As of February 14th, I had approximately ten friends, 6 guys, 4 gals... Now, I have 5 gals in my corner and am all the gladder. In fact, I have been saying to, again, anyone who cares to listen, that last week's was the best Valentine's Day I have had in all my adult life. Also, following that meeting, I am back to believing in love and holding out for it...no comp...

The Third Day: February

I open this post with a quote from a, fairly, estranged but nonetheless dear to my heart, friend of mine; Joel Muhumuza. People rarely change their minds in real time. Rarely will someone say, "You know what? You're right. I was wrong. Man U is a stupid team!" Even under the pressure of a convincing argument, or from an onslaught of evidence against their opinion, they will hold steadfast. But then in private, where embarrassment and ego a re set aside, a shift is made. Where reason; the true quiet voice inside, can be listened to. That's why we need to keep dialogue and debate going, even when it's frustrating and topics rehashed, we have to. Not so we can see people change their minds before us, but because we're lighting a fire that will spark a change not only in their minds but in ours as well. That is how we all grow.  I do not care for sports so my focus is not, in the least, on his Man U example :) I open with it because I was so blessed b...

Cupid Confessions-the last chapter

He is just not that into me. I needed to have that on record and stop kidding myself :( I am okay and on my way. I do not hate him or wish he would go sky diving and his parachute fails :) seriously, I don't :) Also, I now acknowledge that friendships with the opposite sex are a bad idea. I mean real friendships where secrets are shared, time is spent, fears exposed, truth told...these actions one by one; day by day set the said two people up for trouble. I am done cultivating those kinds of friendships. Perhaps it can be said that this is one of my 2013 resolutions- nurture only friendships with women. We (women) need each other 'more' after all :) In other news, Oswald Chambers through his well loved devotion my Utmost for His Highest continues to bless me every morning or evening, fortifying my bible reading, and all this from beyond the grave. The depth of analysis, the clarity of expression and the evident Holy Spirit inspiration is fantastic. Take the following ...
